Just when I thought it couldn't get worse.... here comes Fasciolopsis buski, Wuchiera Bancrofti, Onchocerca Volvulus and their other annoying cousins. ARGHHHHHHHH KJAODKJFLAKJDFLKSJDFLAKSDJFLKSDJFLSKJFLSKJFSLKJ.

BUT I've got company for today! My awesome boyf, whose legs are still recuperating from yesterday's marathon, travelled all the way to godforsaken S.Kang to have lunch with me! <3

Ohmygod I had the WEIRDEST encounter at the natlib today. It involved this man whom I've seen a few times in that area - the only reason why I'd be able to pick his face out from a crowd is because he cross-dresses. But that wasn't the weird part of the encounter! When I reached the study lounge queue (yes the study lounge has a proper, regulated queue now, should have implemented that long ago) with my MP3 blasting in my ears he was in a conversation (okay more like in MONOLOGUE) with the woman who was last in line at that moment (i.e queuing in front of me). Wouldn't have paid much attention to him if not for the fact that his throaty voice cut through my music with the STRANGEST comments, like how he believed himself to be a reincarnation of Jesus Christ?!?!?! And stories about how he was a teacher pushing to get rid of exams in all Singaporean schools?!?!?

Subsequently I realized he DIDN'T KNOW THE LADY. Therefore I was absolutely mortified when the monologue stopped and he turned his head in the direction where I was sitting. Made a huge show of chanelling every ounce of concentration in me onto my Clinical Infections notes when in reality was frozen with fear that he'd decide to switch his monologue target. Cannot. imagine. my. relief. when he turned his attention back to that helpless nice lady and continued with his tirade. Poor soul, she stood in line listening to him for a whole 20 minutes! Completely weirded out.

That aside, mugging was pretty productive today! Except for the fact that I can't, for the life of me, REMEMBER THE NAMES OF ALL THAT FUNGI! They are phonetically impossible I swear. Stupid taxonomists.

This is genius! Love Mia Michaels' choreography, she's left the US show but thankfully she's continuing with her work on the Canada show!

Am in a ladeedaaa mood! COMPLETE turnaround of yesterday's events, which were not that pleasant and involved some unecessary arguing and petty tantrums but ALL'S FINE NOW (: Can't wait to see my boy over the weekend, I have been too deprived! Need to devise a strategy to charm the alphamale in him into watching New Moon with me (RPatz > Taylor I don't care how much many lines I can see on his stomach, too many muscles make a beefbag) Imma tackle my mycobacteria with gusto to save myself all the unecessary guilt that will follow after my fun (:

So this is what it feels like to be on the verge of a serious mental breakdown. CA in less than 3 weeks, my puny brain already feels like it's been put through the Olympics of Medical Knowledge a kazillion times over. These are just 0.0000001% of my grouses:

- THE NAMES. I hate taxonomists. I hate latin. I hate how I need to chant Pseudomonas Aeruginosa + Clostridium tetani + Burkholderia Pseudomallei and a kazillion other hundred syllable names infinite times over just to commit them to memory for 2 hours, and then lose them after that.
- There are at least 908199739174937492 infections that can lead to pneumonia/ encephalitis/ meningitis HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN THEM ALL
- Fungi is not fun at all
- Parasites are exactly what they are - bloodsuckers

Coupled with the fact that I've been nursing a flu for the past few days because my family has been partaking in the Christmas spirit of sharing (their flu viruses) - I am in a snappy mood.

++++++ I miss spending quality time with YS so much!!! It's got me feeling pretty cranky of late :( Seeing him in utter cui-ness on skype mugging like a toad hardly makes up for anything.

I HAVE BEEN PLAGUED WITH THE CURSE OF THE EYEBAGS. VERY BIG AND DARK ONES AT THAT. All from a night of wii with only the craziest people ever - we were dangerously close from being evicted from Derrick's house because of all our foot stomping and maniacal screams. YAYY TO FUN! (:

+ an immediately following boo to mugging :(

Some things are probably not meant to be completely understood. Like love. We could attempt to rationalize all aspects of it in our incessant need to be in control, but we will never be fully able to grasp all its intricacies. Sometimes there is simply no explanation for how 2 people feel a connection for each other, or how this intense emotion could suddenly dissipate and leave nothing in its wake. There might be no answer to the when, why, and hows of love happening - even the simplest question of "Why do you love XXX so much?" cannot be adequately explained in words. But the irrationality about love is what keeps it beautiful. It is what keeps us hoping when we're out of it, and what feeds our soul when we're in it. It is what morphs an eccentricity into an irresistable charm, and what makes us forgive and forget. Love just happens, and sometimes it just stops happening for some people, and there isn't always a proper explanation for it either way. By witholding our attempts to make light of everything that concerns it, we could probably better channel our energy into loving the right people, and in the process, make ourselves happier people (:

My newly single friends! If you guys read this (and I honestly do not know what are the odds), lots of hugs from me to you (: And hunkychua if you're reading this, you know I'm happy to have you (:

RED!
Had my virgin flea market experience yesterday! Profit wise - what I earned was nowhere near the ranks of ULTIMATE JUNK OFFLOADERS clarice elaine and crystal, I had plenty of fun with this crazy bunch (+ jas and charm!) It was sweltering hot, which was completely unexpected. The girls who went on Saturday told us to bring umbellas to shelter ourselves in the event of rain but instead, said umbrellas were the only flimsy things standing between us and melanoma. BUT I STLL GOT BURNT and am as red as a baboon's buttock. The worse thing is that my face is of a colour which is OUTSTANDINGLY DIFFERENT from that my torso, which spells trouble and much ridicule for the long school week ahead. People actually stopped me in my tracks today to ask if I was alright, because I looked like a victim of a third degree burn. HAIIIIIIII.

Photos!

Before and after - look at Clarice's cats in the foreground!! SHE ACTUALLY DID SELL THEM to a collective reaction of shock from all of us.

The buyer must have been smitten by the cats because of my intricate adornments - BUT I DIDN'T MANAGE TO SELL NECKLACES! Save for the purple and black beaded ones.

No customers = self entertainment time. We tried on our own wares for a laugh.

Packing up! Please note the burns. ARGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGH.

Jas drove all of us to udders for some well-deserved ice cream after that! Haha had an awesome time talking about everything under the sun. Love how well I click with these girls even though we're from different OGs and hang out with different groups of people in school!

Weekend of fun spells the need to do SERIOUS STUDYING this week. It's already 9 pm and I've wasted my entire afternoon picking my dog up from the vet (poor soul has got an anal abcess! She spent the night at the vet and didn't eat well NOR sleep well last night. She's so exhausted now she's done nothing but to eat and sleep since she arrived home). Good part about today was I got to meet YS for lunch! Gave him a rude shock with my glorious burn. But that earned me some sympathy and a free lunch heeheehee.

Got my braces! They are in purple. I truly look like a secondary school kid now.

Listening to Derrick practise for his french oral quiz today made me a little wistful, the part of me that wishes I hadn't given up Jap before going to IP resurfaced. It's been one of those incidents where I've made some pretty lame excuses for myself to worm my way out of a situation simply because I was too lazy or unmotivated, a scenario I still find myself slipping into pretty often. Gotta do something about this, if the world really were to end in 2012 (hate that thought) I don't want to go with a long list of regrets that stem from once-upon-a-time cannot-be-botheredness.

To the greatest man on the planet - the only person who'd get out of bed at 3 in the morning to fetch me home when I'm stranded outside with no cash for a cab or to chauffeur me to school on Rag days where we start at 4am, who'd occasionally be extra liberal with how much extra cash he gives me to purchase my bounty of medical books, who has always willingly sponsored both my academic and non-academic pursuits even though they'd present no great benefit to him (i.e. it's not like he has been chauffeured around a great deal after forking out $2000 ++ for my driving lessons, nor has he heard a single song from me after spending on my guitar lessons), who taught me how to stand up for myself and other invaluable life lessons - the best dad ever - HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY! !

No idea if you'd actually read this, but because sometimes your resourcefulness IS pretty scary - I'll bet there's a 60% chance this will get to you (:

WE MEGA WON PLAYHOUSE LAST NIGHT!!! 5 awards for lights and sounds, best director, best supporting actress, BEST PLAY and the overall shield! It meant so much especially with well-subscribed to belief that only upper years would win each year, and the year 5 play was pretty awesome with its simple and humourous concept. Pretty nail-biting, considering that we were neck-to-neck with them in the faculty sports games as well! When the results were announced for best play all 100 odd of us involved in the production stormed the stage, it felt like rag all over again (: Can't even begin to describe how overwhelmed I felt to have been part of 2 major winning projects this year with an amazing bunch of people. I'm proud to be in the '13 batch of meddies, with people so amazingly talented but humble, so gregarious and outgoing, and I'm super glad we're such a close-knitted batch (: Even if we hadn't gotten the desired results to show for our hard work, the process of working together has been incredibly amazing and rewarding, if I had to do dance all over again I would - even if it entails back breaking practices, crazy warm up routines, spinning with our bare feet on tiled floor till we sustain the most hideous abrasions on the soles of our feet, rehearsals until 9 pm, becoming so worn out till we can barely bring ourselves to battle with microB after each practice. I've thoroughly enjoyed dancing with this group of people, despite my initial inhibitions on attempting contemp! Can't put up the photos here, but friends can view them on facebook. Post-production party tomorrow! FINALLY DANCERS CAN EAT (haha so many people making digs at us it's quite funny - that was the first thing we hollered at the end of the play)

There's something wrong with the following photo, see if you can spot it:

MY MISSING TOOTH IS HIDEOUSLY OBVIOUS. I had a nice dress on, my makeup was perfect, even my hair was fine - but the moment I smile everything goes kaboom :( My facebook will be devoid of a lot of photos in the months to come :( :( :( :( :(

And has Liverpool proved that well (: Torres' goal was awesome but Benayoun's pass took the cake for me. I get goosebumps watching the replays! Sheer brilliance (: (: (:

We got chased out of K3Vi1 dance studio today while we were practising for playhouse, in a very unfriendly manner. I don't get it why are some people so nitpicky and narrow minded? Okaay yes, our use of the venue was sort of unauthorized, but we were not impinging on anyone's space, DEFINITELY not making a din, and we always keep the venues in good condition (i.e. the original state they were in before we arrive, which is not a very clean state anyway - we sometimes even help chase away the ants that stomp up and down the walls). If we weren't making a nuisance of ourselves I don't see why we deserved to get complained against. Plus we did have hall dancers in our midst, and quite a couple of them at that!

Happy 31st! I know I've been unbelievably cranky these few days, thanks for putting up with all that, and for not minding my 4 ugly holes and 4 ugly metal rings (basically just my ugly mouth) - BUT STOP CALLING ME BOGAY LA WTHHHHHHHH.

We had dinner at this nice little Korean restaurant at Central yesterday! 2 thumbs up for immaculate service - even though we were relegated to his obscure little corner table, we never felt ignored by the friendly staff on duty. Twenty thumbs up for complimentary, refillable side dishes (their ikan billis were TO DIE FOR. Sadly, yours truly was plagued with the fate of the Metal Mouth which rendered her unable to fully savour the goodness of the dish.) and a kazillion thumbs up for the good food at awesome prices (: Cute name for a restaurant - Seoul Yummy! I marred my own gastronomical experience though - stupid metal rings made me chew so uber slowly I was satiated by the time I finished 1/2 of my rice.

Lovely food and his cheekopek face. Food = total turn on.

Lunch date with the family in a couple of minutes! I'm drivingggggg heeheeehee

Is your head supposed to hurt after you've had your teeth extracted? My left zygomaticus region is giving me hell and theres a dull ache radiating from my right occipital to temporal regions. It's keeping me away from pharmaco, though I won't deny that a lot of other factors like Facebook and FML are too.

Linus posted the video of us at our DnD performance on facebook and I've been playing it on loop. AIYEE (: <3

I had 2 of my teeth extracted for braces, it was a funny feeling hahaha never knew anaesthesia felt like that! Round 2 on Wednesday, am not looking forward to another 2 strange empty holes.

YS's the ultimate sweetheart!! (: He rushed over after ending his lessons to accompany me home, helped me wipe drool because I couldn't feel anything with the whole of my right mouth paralyzed, took my incessant whining with the patience of a saint and lied through his teeth trying to dispel my worries on how ugly I looked with 2 humongous blood soaked gauze pads peeking out from the corner of my mouth. Had dinner at my place and he helped mash fish into tiny pieces so I could swallow them with ease. (: (: (: (: (: I don't care if I sound lovelorn my boyf is theeeeee best! Now he has to rush back for ihg training :(

Bad news from the weekend: I managed to reformat my thumb drive :( Stupidest story ever - never knew plugging it into a Mac would corrupt it so :( Now ALL my notes from term 1 are gone - genetics, cancer, patho, immuno, ethics and the pharmaco I did over the weekend, ALL GONE :( The guy at the IT CooP said there was no hope of recovering anything, and he sounded so nonchalant about it I wanted to slap him :( HEART PAIN HEART PAIN HEART PAIN!!!!

Have been talking to a few people about the recent announcement on the changes to our post-graduate programmes and I can't help thinking this is such a bombshell. My heart goes out to the final yr students because this has flown right smack into their faces and they're expected to make a decision regarding their specialty training in a couple of weeks? Sucks to be in their position. Am not really clued in on how great an effect it'd have on us as yet, but I am worried about a few things already, all of them revolving around the issue of not having many strings to pull (which seems to be a really critical issue given current circumstances). And if it's really gonna be EVEN more academically based than before with the old system THEN I've really got something serious to worry about. Hope we get our much needed briefing soon.

Anyway, I've been eating like a PIG this week. Swensens with the medIP girls yesterday for lunch was YUMMY, heaps of special promotions = a sumptuous meal that was worth every cent (: The raggers headed to Crys's house for a slacking session before our Crystal Jade Buffet and I ended up guilt-tripping myself so a couple of us squeezed in a few laps at the pool before heading for our pig-out. OMG THE BUFFET WAS GLORIOUS. Have never eaten so many XLBs in my LIFE and I swear we could have gone on all night. Haha it was great crazy fun, too bad the next day was a schoolday and we had to leave early :(

And I just came back from dinner with van yvonne and mindy in celebration of yvonne's birthday! Canele was GREAT, service was much better than when I went the last time and the food was awesome too. If they priced their items cheaper I would NO DOUBT head there more often, refined sugar iz luvzzz. (:

Need to remind myself to put in 200% for dance tomorrow, my ultimate target of achieving a midriff-baring-tube worthy body is wayyyyyy beyond the horizon....
